International Student Interviews

Professional Manga Artist Major. Ms. Byon (from Korea). I play a part in cultural exchange between Japan and South Korea through manga!

Employment & Debut

  • ■Graduated in: 2007
  • ■Place of Employment: ad.ken Co., Ltd.
  • ■Job Title: Manga Producer / Designer
  • ■Type of Business: Overall advertisement production
How I obtained this career
Originally, I wanted to debut as a manga artist in Japan, but I chose a different path to employment after my teacher introduced me to my current employer. Mainly, my work is to translate Korean comics, digitize it and make it available to read on mobile phones. I put a lot of effort in conveying the delicate nuances of the Korean comics into Japanese. I believe I am taking part in the cultural exchange between Japan and Korea through my work. I haven't given up on becoming a manga artist, so I often bring my manga pieces to publishers to have them looked at. I am very busy working at my company while also working as a manga artist, but I plan to continue developing the knowledge and skills I obtained at OCA and to live my life to the fullest.
