How I obtained this career
I first became interested in animation during my elementary school years, when I watched "Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro)." I started to have a strong desire to create animation with my own hand, which could move people and give people joy, just like the works by Studio Ghibli. I thought that if I wanted to study animation and acquire knowledge and skills, I should do it in Japan where the animation techniques are the best in the world. I researched technical colleges in Japan and that is how I found OCA. After enrollment, professional creators taught me animation techniques and skills as well as a sense of propriety and business manners. Since that time, my first career choice was of course Studio Ghibli. When I was job hunting, my teachers and career center staff helped me greatly. My teacher checked my portfolio everyday when I was preparing it, and although I was not very good at drawing, they trained me so well that I was able to get a job at Studio Ghibli. Because my course at OCA was for 3 years, I was able to take as much time as needed for production, and I was very happy about that. My goal now is that my name will be in the credits of a Studio Ghibli movie. My dream is to produce work that moves people, like the director Hayao Miyazaki does with his work.
